I stayed in Edmonds in early 2026 while pet sitting through Trusted Housesitters. I was lucky to have several sunny, clear days to explore the town. Of course, it is located in the Pacific Northwest, so it is often rainy and foggy.

The main street has a good selection of shops to browse as well as multiple galleries, restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. There are also lots of fun murals around the main street.

Throughout the year, Edmonds hosts street markets in the center of town. I visited a Saturday “Cabin Fever” winter market with artists, produce, coffee, and food. In the summer, there is the Edmonds Summer market, and there are craft markets and holiday markets in the fall and winter. Check out the schedule here.

For art lovers, Edmonds is the place to be. There are several galleries in town showcasing local artists. I visited Gallery North, a co-op gallery where multiple local artists exhibit their work and also participate in running the gallery. So, while you’re admiring the art, the artist may come up and talk to you about it.

I had lunch at MOTO Pizza. This is a local Seattle chain boasting “Odd Pizza,” with toppings like Dungeness crab, pork belly, and beef adobo. The slices are thick, like deep dish pizza. I also enjoyed the décor.

If it’s a clear day, a walk on the Edmonds waterfront is a must. There are gorgeous views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic mountain range, and you can also watch the Edmonds-Kingston ferry. I grabbed a coffee from Red Twig Bakery and Café (another great spot for breakfast or lunch) and went for a walk along the Marine Walkway near Bracket’s Landing. I kept my eyes peeled for seals and sea lions as I continued along toward the Edmonds Waterfront Center, where I also stopped for gelato from Common Grounds Café.

No visit to Edmonds would be complete without a visit to the Rick Steves Europe store. The headquarters for this travel empire is located in Edmonds just off Main Street. The small store is only open on Saturdays from 9-5. There are a few books, pieces of luggage, and travel accessories for sale, and I believe they also book tours if you want to go on a Rick Steves experience. For me, the coolest thing is the library of guidebooks and maps available for many European destinations. I took a break from walking and looked at some for Spain in anticipation of future trips.

For dinner, I highly recommend checking out one of the seafood restaurants in town, such as the Market Seafood Eatery or Arnie’s. Whenever I’m in the Pacific Northwest, I eat as much fresh seafood as I can because it is so fresh and tasty.

In the evening, I headed back to the beach at Marina Beach Park. You drive or walk all the way down Admiral Way past the whale watching tours to arrive at this small park. I loved watching the sunset here. There is also an off-leash dog park on one side of the park. As a dog lover, I liked getting the chance to say hi to a few pups.

I highly recommend checking out Edmonds the next time you’re in the Pacific Northwest.
